
Our School Aims
West Bridgford Infant School aims to encourage all
children to develop to the best of their abilities, to feel
positive about themselves and be caring towards one another.

The school was built in 1902 and officially opened on May 1st by Lord Belper.
The first children started on August 25th of that year. Originally, it was 2
separate schools with 2 Headteachers. The juniors were upstairs and the
infants were on the ground floor. The current building was situated between
the original Musters Road Board School (where the Health Centre now
stands) and the railway line (now housing on

The children are organised in 3 Year 1 classes,
3 Year 2 classes and 3 Foundation Stage 2 classes.
The school aims to provide a caring, stimulating environment.
Emphasis is put on the development of positive self-image,
encouragement of co-operation, decision-making and
understanding the needs of others. Children are encouraged
to become self-disciplined and well motivated.
The school seeks to provide and promote a balanced curriculum,
which fosters skills and attitudes to learning which will enable
children to become independent, solve problems, gain knowledge
and develop attitudes and values within a climate of respect for
individuality.
The school encourages parental involvement in children’s learning.
Parental involvement in all aspects of school life is encouraged.
There is a thriving Home School Association which works hard
on the school’s behalf to raise money, organise social events
and help in school in a variety of ways.
At the age of 7+ the children move to the
developed across the family of schools. The Headteachers
and staff meet regularly to develop aspects of liaison.
